Mentoring
Mentoring is a developmental relationship in which a more experienced individual (the mentor) shares their knowledge, skills, and experience with a less experienced individual (the mentee) to help them grow and develop personally and professionally.
Types of Mentorship
- Formal: Occurs through a structured program with defined goals and expectations.
- Informal: Occurs spontaneously without a formal structure or program.
Roles of a Mentor
- Offer advice, encouragement, and feedback.
- Teach new skills and help mentees develop their careers.
- Provide a safe space for mentees to discuss challenges and concerns.
- Assist them in evaluating their professional strengths and limitations and designing a professional growth plan.
