ATTRITION RATE
Attrition Rate
The frequency at which employees leave an organization is called the Attrition rate. It is usually reported as a percentage and can be determined by dividing the number of employees lost throughout the time by the total number at the start of the period. A high rate of attrition may indicate issues with job satisfaction, management, or other underlying issues.
Types of Attrition
There are different types of employee attrition rates, including
- Voluntary attrition: When an employee leaves on their own accord
Involuntary attrition: When an employee is laid off or terminated due to poor performance or other reasons
- Functional attrition: When an employee's job role loses its value due to automation or other structural changes in the organization
- Dysfunctional attrition: When a firm loses their valuable employees owing to poor management or other organizational issues
- Avoidable attrition: When employees leave the organization due to conditions or factors that could have been addressed by the company
- Unavoidable attrition: When employees leave the organization due to conditions or factors that are beyond the company's control
