In this Quick 5 Interview series, we spoke with Kashish Sharma, Talent Acquisition Operations Specialist at Bechtel Corporation. Kashish shared her perspectives on managing time to balance strategic goals, busted myths about employee engagement, shed light on the evolving role of AI in HR, and explained how organizations can create more seamless employee experiences.

Kashish highlights the importance of presence, empathy, and personalization in leadership. Her vision for the future is a convergent system in which rewards, recognition, and well-being flow together, creating a more holistic and lasting impact on the employee experience.

Here is the excerpt from the candid conversation with Kashish, who also received the Most Admired Women Award 2025 in the Achiever category.

Q1. How do you manage time effectively to ensure you’re present for your teams while also focusing on strategic goals?

A1. I’m a big fan of time blocking. It is something I’ve been doing since the start of my career, and I owe a huge thanks to my mentors who helped me get into the habit. It creates space for bigger strategic goals during my day, but it’s not as if my calendar is written in stone. I try not to be so rigid that I can’t adjust or move things around. If my team needs me, I want to be there for them. For me, it’s really about managing my presence and being there at the right time, because that’s what matters most.

Q2. In your opinion, what’s the biggest misconception companies have about employee engagement, and how do you challenge that mindset?

A2. The classic mistake is thinking that engagement is all about planning fun Fridays, pizza lunches, quarterly team meetings, or team outings. Those things don’t really move the needle. Real engagement happens when the people in your organization feel listened to and valued every single day. For me, celebrating small wins is just as important as celebrating the big ones. That is what genuinely keeps people motivated and makes them want to show up for their tasks on a day-to-day basis.

Q3. Personalized rewards are becoming the norm. How do you see the next generation of rewards and recognition systems evolving, and how can AI-powered tools help companies stay ahead in this space?

A3. For me, the future of rewards is about systems that can actually anticipate an individual’s needs. Imagine an AI tool that could predict exactly what kind of recognition or reward someone truly needs in the moment. AI can help us spot patterns and nudge us to recognize people in a way that feels much more personal, well-timed, and authentic.

Q4. With the rise of AI in HR, how do you preserve the human touch in a world of smart nudges and predictive analytics?

A4. I would say AI is brilliant at the heavy lifting, but it doesn’t do empathy. I use AI to cut through the noise so that I can focus on things only humans can do. That means listening better, connecting more deeply, and being genuinely present for my team and my peers. It is about letting technology handle the administrative side while I focus on people management. By talking more to people and networking, I can use those human connections to drive better results in my day-to-day work.

Q5. The future will need a fully integrated recognition ecosystem. How do you think AdvantageClub.ai can contribute to a holistic approach to engagement, combining rewards, recognition, and well-being?

A5. I agree that the future is all about convergence. Instead of keeping rewards, recognition, and well-being in separate boxes, it makes much more sense for them to flow together into one intelligent and seamless experience. A fully integrated system does more than just help us recognize people. It gives the entire rewards and recognition segment a more timely, authentic, and lasting feel.

Kashish’s insights underline the future of HR, where technology and empathy must coexist to build cultures of trust and recognition. As workplaces evolve, her perspective offers a roadmap for leaders aiming to balance innovation with authenticity.
